PART-TIME AND POST-STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

International students can work while studying if they are enrolled in an institution. Non-EU members must hold a valid residency permit. Students will be permitted to work 20 hours per week during studies and 3 months of full-time work is allowed during the holidays

Students from member countries of the European Union may work in Poland without any restrictions after graduation. You do not need a permit to work as a graduate of a Polish higher education institution full-time program. You can stay for a further 2-3 years as long as you have proof of financial support without any government benefits. Students can obtain a work permit after they obtain a job or accept employment.

Universities are divided into private and public offering Bachelors's, Masters's, and Doctorate degrees. Degrees earned in Poland are internationally recognized offering part-time or full-time programs. Full-time classes during the weekdays help students to spate time to catch up on cultural activities over the weekend. Part-time classes or sessions are held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays several times in the semester as well as evening studies held on weekdays during the afternoons and evenings.

The academic year begins in October and ends Mid-June and has two semesters: winter and summer with one semester lasting 4-5 months. During the exam period, you either pass an exam or get credits through essays, extracurricular or similar activities to advance into the next semester. After graduation, submission of a thesis, and passing the final exam, you will be granted a professional academic degree. Poland adheres to the standards of Bologna and follows the following structure in education:

STUDY CYCLES
FIRST STUDY CYCLE
After finishing the first cycle of studies (3-4 years) you get the professional title license equivalent to a Bachelors's degree. The ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) used in Poland is standard for all universities in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)

SECOND STUDY CYCLE
You will gain the professional title of Master after graduating with a master’s degree of 1.5 to 2 years. This degree concentrates on theoretical knowledge as well as the application and development of creative skills.

LONG STUDY CYCLE
This master’s degree lasts 4.5 to 6 years based on an integrated study program where you will study the basics of your field and in-depth specialization.

THIRD STUDY CYCLE
A Doctorate-level program that lasts 3-4 years after a master’s degree program. It is offered by universities and research institutions. You will have to successfully defend your dissertation and pass a doctoral examination to get this degree.

DIVERSE STUDY OPTION
All universities offer the three degrees taught in English giving you a comprehensive education to prepare students to work in the most advanced and competitive global markets.

Education is free for Polish students but the price of education for international students is far lower than in many other European countries. The fees vary from 2230 USD to 6700 USD depending on the degree, study cycles, and institution, and about 9000 USD to 14,000 USD for MBA programs.

Student visa requirements depend on your country of origin, but a visa is necessary to enter Poland. Poland is part of the Schengen zone so you can travel to countries part of the EU.

EU/EEA Students: Students don’t need to apply for a student visa but will need to register their stay in Poland if they choose to stay longer than three months.

You will have to register your stay at the Voivodship (Provincial) Office of your region within 90 days of arrival. This is a cost-free registration, and you will receive a certificate of registration as proof of stay.

Non-EU Students: Non-EU students must apply for a student visa to study in Poland. You will have to process your application with a Polish Consulate along with the necessary documents and submit your application along with all the documents and visa fees. It will take up to 15 days to review your application.

It is important to apply for a Temporary Stay Card once you arrive in Poland and Temporary Residence Permit 45 days before your visa expires. You can use this permit to cross the Polish border as many times as you want.

EU students who possess health insurance cards have the right to free healthcare. Students will need their own international medical insurance before arriving in Poland for free medical care.

Accommodation options vary depending on city to city and the higher education that you choose. Many institutes have their own dormitories, which are the cheapest options available. Most students, however, choose to rent a room in a private apartment.

Campus accommodation is offered to international students with the option of separate rooms as well as shared rooms depending on their preference. The monthly charges will range between 100 – 150 Euros for a single student.

Off-Campus Accommodation can be an option for students who do not get the opportunity to live on the campus.
