Part-time and post-study work opportunities:
A permit is not required for foreign students working with universities or connected organizations. In other cases, permits can be acquired on full-time courses which are issued for a year with an extension if needed. If foreigners work without a permit then a fine of 2,000-5,000 roubles or 5,000-7,000 roubles will be imposed.

Routes to permanent settlement:
To be granted permanent residency in Russia, students will have to start with a temporary settlement. Employment opportunities after completion of degree:
Job opportunities in Russia are quite challenging for foreign students. However, there are some jobs offered in teaching and industries of wood, metal, natural gas and oil, banking, mobile technology, IT, and electronics.

The government offers state-funded scholarships for foreign students with 15,000 seats after qualifying for an entrance exam. The scholarships will help students with free tuition and maintenance fees. However, these offers will not be available to foreign graduates who are undergoing internships for professional training or career advancement but will only get accommodation in university dormitories.

Government scholarships: The Russian Federation accepts all students, Russian and foreign with three options for registering into state-funded spots:

Winning an Academic competition of levels 1, 2, and 3 in Russia or abroad.
Qualifying for the entrance exam.
Qualifying competitive selection for quotas.
The advantages of these scholarships are of two types: the first is the enrolment for applicants without any entry exam and the second is the selection of the top candidates in the Unified State Examination (USE). With respect to the competitions, the winners of level 1 will be registered without an entrance exam and the winners of levels 2 and 3 will be entitled to extra points for the results of the state exam.
