The concept of molecules as fundamental substances that are composed within matters has its origin in the ancient Greek civilisation. With time, this course has evolved as a natural science as is growing rapidly. In the beginning of the twenty century, we saw the emergence of quantum mechanics and that gave us a deeper understanding of the nature of chemical bonds. That was the beginning of the process of unifying chemistry, for the purpose of studying the variation in behaviour that matters portray, and physics, for the purpose of exploring the basic rules that matters obey. It was during this transition period that, molecular science emerged as an interdisciplinary research field that combined chemistry and physics. These two have been regarded as independent research areas by their own disciplines.
Molecular science is a relatively new research concept, which aims at translating uncountable phenomena that molecules exhibit. Based on these fundamentals, it is endeavouring to find out the new properties and activities of molecules that have so far been unexplored and also to create innovative materials with this new and valuable discovery. Other scientific subjects like medicine, engineering, ecology, and neurobiology have the base of their study on Molecular Sciences. The study program covers topics like molecular biology, biomedical and molecular science, molecular health sciences, and molecular engineering.
